Accept an Invite
When an organization administrator invites you to their OSCAL Hub workspace, you receive an email containing a unique invitation link. Clicking that link takes you to the Accept Invitation page, where you can join the organization — either by signing in with an existing account or by creating a new one on the spot.
What to expect from the invitation email
The invitation email includes:
- The name of the organization you are being invited to join.
- The role you will be assigned (for example, Member, Analyst, or Org Admin).
- A unique invitation link in the format
/accept-invite?token=<token>.
The link is valid for 7 days by default. After it expires, the page will display an error and you will need to contact the person who sent the invite to request a new one.
Accepting the invite
- Click the invitation link
Open the invitation email and click the Accept Invitation button or link. Your browser opens OSCAL Hub at
/accept-invite?token=.... - Review the invitation details
The page displays the organization name, the inviting admin's name, and the role you are being assigned. Confirm these details are correct.
- Sign in or create an account
- If you already have an OSCAL Hub account: Click Sign in and enter your credentials. Your existing account will be linked to the organization.
- If you do not have an account yet: Enter a new username and password in the registration fields on the same page. Your new account will be created and immediately associated with the organization.
- Confirm and join
Click the Accept or Join Organization button. OSCAL Hub processes the invite token and adds your account to the organization.
- Start working
You are redirected to the OSCAL Hub home page inside the organization's context. All organization-level features — shared Library, org-scoped Authorizations, admin tools (if your role allows) — are now available to you.
What happens after joining
- You are added to the organization with the role specified in the invitation.
- If your account previously had no organization, you are now placed directly in the new org's context.
- If your account already belonged to other organizations, you can switch between them using the org switcher in the top navigation bar. Switching orgs does not require signing out.
- The invitation link is invalidated immediately after use — it cannot be used to add a second account.
Tips and limits
- Expired invitations (7 days): If the link has expired, the page displays an error. Contact your organization admin and ask them to resend the invitation from their admin dashboard.
- Wrong email address: If you receive an invite at an email address that is different from the one on your existing OSCAL Hub account, you can still sign in with your existing account — the invite is accepted by clicking the link and then signing in, regardless of which email received the message.
- Token reuse: Each invitation token can be accepted only once. If you accidentally close the page before completing the flow, click the link in the original email again — it remains valid until used or expired.
- Role changes after joining: If you need a different role than the one specified in the invitation, contact your Org Admin after joining. Roles can be changed from the admin dashboard.
If your organization uses single sign-on (SSO), the invite flow may redirect you to your identity provider's login page rather than the built-in username/password form. Complete the SSO sign-in and you will be returned to OSCAL Hub to finish accepting the invite.
